SENT OUT - Embracing Your God-Given Purpose

DAY 2 OF 5

Day 2: Sent to Follow

Jesus calls us to follow Him, not just in belief but in action. In Mark 1:16-18, He invites Simon and Andrew to become fishers of men. This call isn’t about knowledge or perfection—it’s about walking with Jesus and letting Him transform us. Kyle Idleman warns, “The biggest threat to the church today is fans who call themselves Christians but aren’t actually interested in following Christ. They want to be close enough to Jesus to get all the benefits but not so close that it requires anything from them.” Following Jesus means denying ourselves and stepping out of our comfort zones. Luke 9:23 challenges us to take up our cross daily, prioritizing God’s mission over personal convenience. Jesus doesn’t just save us from something; He saves us for something. The transformation from fish to fishermen is a process that requires faith, surrender, and action. Today, reflect on what it means to follow Jesus fully. Where is He calling you to step out in faith? Remember, following Jesus isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being willing.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Are you following Jesus as a fan or as a disciple?
  2. What areas of your life require surrender to His mission?
  3. How can you deny comfort to grow deeper in your walk with Christ?

Action Step: Identify one specific area where you need to take up your cross and follow Jesus. Commit to taking one small step of obedience this week.
