Journey With Jesus 365Sample
In John Chapter 12, we find a pivotal moment in Jesus' ministry as He approaches Jerusalem for the final time. Mary anoints Jesus' feet with expensive perfume, demonstrating a profound act of worship and foreshadowing His impending burial. This event contrasts with Judas Iscariot’s objection, which reveals his lack of understanding and future betrayal. As Jesus enters Jerusalem, He is greeted with palm branches and shouts of "Hosanna," signifying the crowd's hope for a messianic deliverer. However, Jesus communicates that His kingdom is not of this world, emphasizing the need for spiritual salvation. He speaks about the necessity of His death, using the metaphor of a grain of wheat that must die to produce many seeds. This illustrated the principle of sacrifice leading to greater life. Jesus' words challenge us to consider what we are willing to sacrifice for the sake of following Him. As the chapter concludes, despite witnessing many signs, some still struggle to believe in Him, fulfilling Isaiah's prophecy about hardened hearts.
As a disciple of Christ, what sacrifices are we called to make in our own lives to truly follow Jesus' example and teachings?
