The Comeback Kid

DAY 19 OF 28

Authority can be an annoying word. Our teachers have authority over us, our parents have authority over us, and our coaches have authority over us. It sounds like a word that means whoever has authority will tell us what to do. Although that is sometimes true, when Jesus says He has authority over Earth, He says it with hope and encouragement. Jesus has power over everything. He can guide us in every situation. He helps us at school when it feels hard to show up to class. He is present with our families when they don’t get along. He reconciles friendships when friends say mean things. However, it’s important to remember that just because Jesus has authority over everything, that doesn’t mean everything will work out the way we want.

We may not get the top grades in the class. Our parents may not always get along. Our friendships may end. Despite all the hard things that may happen, we can find hope in the fact that Jesus has power over all of it. With Jesus, we know that we can find hope in the hardest situations.

The next time you’re worried, remind yourself that Jesus has authority over all things. Because of that, you can trust Him with all your worries.
