How Do You Follow Jesus?Sample
A process of growth
In the past two days of this plan, you read that God is glorified when you make the effort to be a disciple and that you bear fruit by following Jesus (John 15:8). So from there, you can see that you must get into action. Only saying that Jesus has saved and delivered you and then continuing to live like your unbelieving neighbor is a bad testimony.
Of course, that ‘getting into action’ is a bit unfamiliar in the beginning. It is therefore very normal that we sometimes make mistakes. Discipleship is a process of growth. You go through different phases and in that, God sees your heart. Make sure that your heart and your focus are aimed at Jesus and the doing of His will.
Jesus must be at the center of all that you do, people must see that you are no longer the same, that you belong to God now.
Don’t feel like this is a ‘must’. It is not a punishment to follow Him; it is an honor! Your life wasn’t complete before Christ, otherwise, you wouldn’t have needed Him. Thanks to Him you are redeemed from the curse of the law and the power of sin. Therefore, wouldn’t you trust Him with all that you have? With your whole life?
With all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind?
It is His first commandment:
Matthew 22:37:
‘Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”’
Just like in a relationship; you must always invest in the other. When you do that, you get to know the other better and better. Eventually, you blindly trust each other. You give yourself fully for the other. You trust the other more and more because he or she has proven to be trustworthy.
God is always faithful.
He is worth all of our love.
He has your best interests at heart.
During your walk with Him, you will discover more and more that dedicating your life to God, putting King Jesus first in your life, isn’t difficult and hard at all, but a true joy!
For He is worthy ‘living for’, as He found you worthy ‘dying for’.
