The Serenity PrayerSample

Amen

“… Amen.”

In 2 Corinthians 1:20, we are reminded that all of God’s promises find their “yes” in Christ, and through Him, we utter our “Amen” to the glory of God. This assurance grants us serenity and peace, showing that amid difficulties, we can fully trust in the divine promises.

Life is often compared to a journey filled with challenging paths but also beautiful landscapes. Just as difficulties on a journey do not prevent us from enjoying the destination, the Christian life, despite momentary suffering, leads us to a glorious destination: eternity with God. This is expressed by Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, where he compares present sufferings to the "eternal glory" that far outweighs any hardship. Fixing our eyes on the eternal gives us the strength to face the temporary with serenity.

The peace and calm we seek amid life’s storms can only be found in Christ. He is the source of all promises, and by fixing our eyes on Him and our eternal hope, we are empowered to live each day with confidence and tranquility.

Moreover, trusting in God’s plan helps us to cherish the present, knowing that everything we face is temporary and that the final destination—eternal presence with God—makes it all worthwhile.

Prayer: Lord, may I live with my eyes fixed on Your eternity, finding peace and serenity in Christ, trusting that Your promises are true and always fulfilled. Amen.
