A Year of Prayer: Season One Weekday Devotionals

DAY 27 OF 75

When our technology, laptops, phones, or tablets, begins to drain power, we notice things. First, the lights dim on the screen. Perhaps the video lags, or a notification about the remaining battery power pops up. The icons and symbols change. A little angry red line appears, perhaps a cross or blinking light through the middle of the battery. All is not well at our computers or phones’ core.

God does not operate on power, batteries, cells, or prayers. He is constantly glorying and worthy of glory. Rather than a drain on power, God is the source of power. God does not dim, flicker, sleep, wind down, or weaken. God never fails. So why are our lives so often in the red zone when we have this unending source of power?

We have all the appearances, symbols, and stress of a drained battery and waning screen. What do you think causes this?

Matthew 11:27-30 says, '"All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him".

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”'

Know Jesus, know life, and know rest.

Prayer: Jesus, lead me in the ways everlasting, to your sources of power that I may give you glory in all my ways.

Action: Reflect on the scripture again and write down some of the thoughts and ideas that come to your mind about power and recharging (rest).
