DAY 3 OF 4

Qualified Versus Chosen

It’s remarkable to think that the God who created everything does not need us, yet He chooses to work through us. The same Jesus who sent His disciples out two-thousand years ago still calls ordinary people today. He calls you.

Are we qualified for that? Not really. And honestly, it has never been about being qualified in the first place. Our confidence does not come from what we bring but from what Jesus gives. There is an old saying that captures this beautifully: “He doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.”

If that’s true, then instead of focusing on your limitations, you can trust that Jesus equips the people He sends.

In this episode, the disciples struggle with how quickly Jesus sends them out. They would prefer more time, more learning, more clarity. Does their hesitation sound familiar? Many of us want certainty before we act. We want more knowledge before we speak.

But Jesus sends them anyway. His instruction is not, “Be fully prepared,” but rather, “Go – and rely on your relationship with Me.” He invites them to step forward even while they still feel unsure, because He knows He will walk with them as they go.

Are you willing to walk forward in faith even before you feel secure? Do you trust that Jesus will provide what you need along the way?

Reflection Questions

  • What do you feel qualified for?
  • Do you respond quickly or cautiously when Jesus calls you to act?
  • What step of obedience might He be inviting you to take today?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for choosing me and calling me. Help me to trust that You will equip me for everything You ask me to do. Give me courage to follow You, even when I feel uncertain. Amen.
