Don't Worry About Tomorrow

DAY 1 OF 3

ENOUGH FOR TODAY

One day, I was listening to a wonderful woman minister tell a story about a time in her life when she was crazy busy and didn’t see how she could ever get everything done. Ever been there?

So she prayed and asked God, “Lord, help me get through the next two weeks!” He answered, “I’m not going to do it.”

Wait -- what?! God refused to help her? That isn’t good! He is our Helper! He’s the One we turn to when things are beyond our strength when we’re in trouble or don’t know how to get things done.

Naturally, she was upset and asked, “Lord! Why not?” He answered, “I’m only going to give you enough grace and provision for today. You can only live one day at a time. Tomorrow, I will give you grace for that day – trust me.”

Wow, that really hit me. How many times do we worry about the future? Yes, we want to plan and have goals, but really, there’s nothing we can do about tomorrow, is there. So why worry?

In 2 Corinthians 12:9, God tells us, My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Best. News. Ever! When we are weak or can’t handle something, His strength is made perfect. His grace is always available, and it’s always enough.

God just wants us to trust Him. Let’s face it, we would prefer that He give us the whole five-year plan right now, or supply every bit of our needs all at once. But that’s not how it works. Instead, He wants us to seek Him and believe Him every day. He wants to be our source (and He’s a good one).

It reminds me of the children of Israel and their supernatural provision of manna in the wilderness (Exodus 16). God only provided enough manna to eat -- what they needed -- each day. Why? Because He wanted them to count on Him every day, not on themselves or on something external that could change.

He told them not to save today’s manna for tomorrow, yet they did. Why? Because they weren’t sure, He’d provide again tomorrow. They didn’t trust Him. That’s doubt, and God calls that “evil” (Hebrews 3:9-12). Agh! We don’t want to doubt Him! He is El Shaddai – always more than enough.

Day 2

About this Plan

Don't Worry About Tomorrow

It’s easy to be worried and anxious over a future that we can’t see, isn’t it? We wish we had some way of looking ahead to find out how everything will turn out. But God doesn’t work that way. He wants you to trust Him. And you can! Read on to find that He is enough for today, and He has a good plan for all your tomorrows.
