Family Vitals

DAY 4 OF 4

Prayer

To pray is simply talking to God. It’s a privilege to know God listens to us no matter where we are. If you’ve ever desperately tried to get a hold of someone and they aren’t picking up, you know how bad that feels. But God is always accessible and available for you. The Scottish evangelist Oswald Chambers said, “Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work.”

I was reflecting on the most important words spoken in our home. The most important words spoken aloud in your home will always be those spoken in prayer. Words of prayer invite God into a family conflict. Words of prayer invite God into a family loss. Words of prayer invite God into a family crisis. Words of prayer invite God into a family trauma. Words of prayer invite God into a family desire.

We have a love for prayer because we love to connect to God. When you connect to God as a family, your foundation is on the Rock. You know where your help will come from. You know the authority you're reaching out to. You know the power you’re appealing to, and you know the grace you’ll be met with.

There’s no such thing as a perfect family, but there are restored families. There are changed families. There are healed families, and there are redeemed families. There is no limit to what God can do in your family.

Question for Your Family: Where and When Can We Pray Together?

Day 3

About this Plan

Family Vitals

In this 4-day plan, you’ll explore foundational aspects of family life—Worship, Word, Connection, and Prayer. Each day includes key Bible verses, a short devotional, and a question to guide your family in making these a central part of your home life. As you engage in these practices, you’ll build a strong spiritual foundation to sustain your family through every season of life.
