How Is Water Baptism Performed?

"In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And when He came up out of the water, immediately He saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on Him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, 'You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.'" Mark 1:9-11 (ESV).

"And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing." Acts 8:38-39 (ESV).

Baptism in the Bible is depicted as full immersion in water, symbolizing total surrender to God. Jesus’ baptism in Mark 1:9-11 exemplifies this, representing the burial of the old self and the beginning of new life. Similarly, the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8:38-39 was baptized by full immersion by going down into the water and coming up out of the water.
