Meet the Rest of the Team

DAY 2 OF 7

GOD’S DELIVERY TEAM

The first character trait that God reveals to us throughout Scripture is that of being a good Provider. He tells us over and over again that He is closely involved with our daily needs. ”And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others” (2 Cor 9:8, NLT). From the beginning of Genesis, God has been deploying his team members in nature to make sure that we get the message.

In Genesis 22, Abraham’s great leap of faith was based on his faith in God’s character to provide. As he was taking his son up the mountain to sacrifice him, he kept on believing that God would be faithful. “‘God will provide a sheep for the burnt offering, my son,’ Abraham answered” (v. 8, NLT). And He did. I’m not sure what language God uses when giving sheep instructions, but the ram obeyed and walked right into the thicket to deliver Isaac from death (v. 13).

In the same way, God used a special delivery service to Elijah when he camped beside Kerith Brook. “‘Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food’” (1 Kings 17:6, NLT). Just like that. All creation waits on orders from God. How fantastic would it be to see behind the scenes?

Has God ever provided for a need you had through nature? Do you believe that God is able and willing to mobilize the rest of his team for your needs?

Let us become more aware of God’s provision when we observe the rest of creation around us. And let us ask God boldly to open our eyes to the rest of his team on earth as they reveal his character to us. He is a good Provider. “When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing” (Psalm 145:16, NLT).
