DAY 4 OF 31

God's plan for human families

The plan for community for human families comes from God’s nature as a Triune God. The Divine Family has several implications for human families.

Family members in a human family are connected relationally. DNA present in biological families connects us scientifically. Families by choice, through adoption or foster care, have chosen to be related.

There is a sense of love, commitment, and unity in families, as seen in the Trinity. Each family member has a role to play. In your family's case, you have a history, a past, a legacy, a particular DNA running through your blood, and a sense of life mission.

You are a family, just like God in the Trinity is a family. Viewing your family from a trinitarian perspective helps you see your own family from a new and fresh perspective.

The Trinity, the Divine Family, provides a model for human families as its precedent. We know how to be good, healthy, and strong families from the example of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit.

Questions for Reflection:

- What might we learn from the Divine Family that has a bearing on your family?

- How are the relationships of the Divine Family similar or different from those of human families?

- What qualities of the Divine Family do you desire for your family?

About this Plan

Find Inspiration From Biblical Families

Learn from families throughout the Bible, such as the first family with Adam and Eve, Jesus' family, and even the family Timothy was raised in. While families may struggle, God's design for humanity was in the family. Read for practical principles you can apply to your family today.
