Acts 2:1-13 | God's Spirit

DAY 1 OF 5

Here it is. This is the chapter. Call it the climax of Acts, which is odd given it’s right in the beginning. But here is where everything changes. Jesus alluded to it in Acts 1:4-5. Everything else in Acts (and life) flows from here. Acts 2 is when God’s Spirit is poured out.

Over the next three plans, we’re breaking Acts 2 up into sections. Each has so much to say. This one focuses on Acts 2:1-13. In our next two plans, we’ll look at Acts 2:14-41, and then 2:42-47. You can call these three sections the what, the why, and the now what. What happened? Why did it happen? And what happens now that it’s happened?

Acts 2:1-13 looks at what happened. What happened? God poured his Spirit out! This isn’t the first time God gave a portion of his Spirit. Throughout the Old Testament, we see God’s Spirit at work in so many ways. But this is different. It’s greater. It’s life-altering and world-altering. What Jesus promised is coming to pass. What the Old Testament envisioned on the day of the Lord is happening!

You cannot overstate the importance of this. God’s Spirit changes everything.

Today, read Acts 2:1-13. Let it overwhelm you, like that violent, rushing, fire-laced wind overwhelmed the apostles. The storm of God’s Spirit is rolling in. Better to stand in the midst of it than to stand back and analyze it.

About this Plan

Acts 2:1-13 | God's Spirit

Acts centers on the power of the Holy Spirit and shows how God seeks to pour himself out on us. This 5-day plan continues a journey through the book of Acts, the Bible’s gripping sequel of Jesus at work in the life of his followers as he expands his kingdom to the ends of the earth. It’s a journey on what it means to be a Christian. It’s a story in which you have a role to play.
