DAY 2 OF 4

Do you feel ready?

Just a few quotes from this episode of The Chosen. Jesus and John (the one who prepared the way for Jesus) are in conversation.

"Do you feel ready?"

"Readiness does not make it easy..."

"It is becoming real, all that we have prepared for."

Throughout the Bible you see people saying "Here I am." It carries too far for now, but if you run a search term on it, you will come across a whole number of people. Little Samuel, for example, or Joseph. Or how about Isaiah? Or Ananias, another example, but from the New Testament. All people who answered when they were called. They declared themselves "ready" for their task.

"Here I am."

"You tell me."

That starts, of course, with having your ears open. Do you hear when someone needs you? And to apply it right away to God and how He wants to use you - are you hearing His voice? Are you "tuned in" to Him?

And when you hear His voice, what is your reaction? Are you ready? Are you available? And how do you position yourself in that? Can God ask something of you that goes outside your "comfort zone"? It's a good question to ask yourself sometime.

The people I just mentioned were all given a task that was difficult and way out of their comfort zone.

The title of today’s reading plan is "Do you feel ready?" I don't think any of the people in the row above 'felt' ready. Often, doing a difficult task doesn't "feel" right. You sometimes feel outright resistance within yourself. Sometimes you just know that - even though you are doing the right thing - you are getting yourself into trouble. What do you do then?

From Hebrews 10, we know that the verses from Psalm 40 are also about the Lord Jesus. He also said "Here I am," send Me. But do you think He felt "ready"? What do you think He was thinking when He saw the cross? He knew what was going to happen. And He went. In trust and obedience.

Do you feel ready?

Maybe, or maybe not.

Being ready doesn't make it any easier.

Do you dare to go in trust and obedience?

"Thank You Lord that You accomplished Your work for me, even though it was so difficult and so hard."

Take the following questions to think about:

  • Is there anything the Lord is asking of you today?
  • If nothing comes to your mind, what is your attitude if the Lord were to give you an assignment right now?
  • How far will you go for Him? What boundaries do you set?

Prayer: "Lord, today I just want to say to You that I am here. I am willing Lord. With that I say it I don't really know what I'm saying - but I trust You. Show me Lord what I may do for You today. Here I am. I am ready for what You want to give me. Help me Lord to hear You when You speak to me. Amen."
