Overwhelmed to Overflowing

DAY 5 OF 7

Pursue the True Bread

READY:

“…and the one who comes to Me I will never cast out.” – John 6:37b

SET:

Olympic gymnast Kieran Behan went through a lot. At age 10, he had a tumor removed from his leg and was told he would never walk again. Over a year later, while working his way back, he suffered a head injury that took him three years to overcome. He had to endure the retraining of his brain, re-finding his coordination, and ridicule from his classmates. Still, he managed to qualify for the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympic Games. At that time, he was only the second Irishman to qualify for the Olympics.

Just as Kieran was all in to pursue his athletic goals, we should be all in when pursuing our Savior and Lord. After feeding the 5,000 in John chapter five, a crowd sought out Jesus. When they found Him, He told them that they only pursued Him because they had their bellies filled. He said to them that He was the Bread of Life, and those who pursued Him with all their hearts would never be hungry and would never thirst. He added, “…the one who comes after Me I will never cast out” (John 6:37).

When God places a goal on our heart, whether athletic, career, or spiritual, we need to pursue that goal until we get there, or He changes it. But pursuing a stronger relationship with Jesus should be our top goal. One day, athletics and our careers may end. But Jesus will always be there and will never leave us. Let us give our all to growing closer to Him every day.

GO:

  1. What is the number one goal in your life?
  2. What does it mean to make Jesus the number one pursuit in your life?

WORKOUT:

1 Chronicles 16:11

Proverbs 8:17

John 6:22-40

OVERTIME:

“Father, I want to come after You with all my being. Please help me make You my number one priority. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
