31 Values to Pray for Your Kids

DAY 14 OF 31

Kindness

As parents, one of our greatest desires is to raise children known for their kindness and compassion. The call to kindness shines brightly as a beacon of hope and healing in a world often marked by division and strife. It is one of the strongest ways to draw someone to Jesus.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:15, we are urged to strive to do good to one another and everyone. This verse reminds us that kindness is not merely a passive virtue but an active pursuit, a deliberate choice to extend love and grace to those around us.

Ephesians 4:32 exhorts us to be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave us. Here, we see kindness intertwined with forgiveness and compassion, reflecting the transformative power of God's love in our lives. We mirror Christ's selfless love and forgiveness as we extend kindness to others. This makes us active participants in restoring broken relationships and wounded hearts.

In 2 Samuel 9, we encounter the beautiful story of King David's kindness toward Mephibosheth, the son of his dear friend Jonathan. Despite Mephibosheth's physical limitations and societal status, David extends kindness and generosity to him, inviting him to dine at his table as one of his sons.

Pray:

Father, in Jesus’ name, we come before you with grateful hearts, recognizing your boundless kindness and mercy toward us. We pray that you will fill our children with the same empathy and compassion that flows from your heart.

Teach them to be agents of your love in a world that desperately needs it. May they embrace the call to kindness, seeking opportunities to extend grace and mercy to those around them.

Help them to cultivate hearts of forgiveness as they learn to forgive others just as you have forgiven them. May their kindness testify to your transformative power and reflect your unfailing love.

May our children be like King David, extending kindness and hospitality to the marginalized and overlooked, and may their lives be a testament to the beauty of a heart shaped by your love. We pray in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, amen.
