Everyone Wants a Miracle

DAY 5 OF 5

Foundation for Miracles

Faith comes through hearing God’s Word, not from philosophical rhetoric or religious traditions. Jesus Himself told the Pharisees that they were making the Word of God of no effect through their traditions (Mark 7:13). The biblical promises of God must be believed, obeyed, and taught. God does not want followers who proclaim Him with their lips but whose hearts are far from Him. Those who teach others are judged more strictly (James 3:1). The message must be right, or all else is empty. A week of fasting may be proclaimed, but without faith in God and obedience to His precepts, it will not bring miracles. Nights of prayers may be arranged, but without Jesus, they will be to no avail.

Spiritual awakening must begin in the speaker, teacher, or leader. She must be willing to surrender ideas and methods that are not grounded in redemptive truth. He must be willing to conform his thinking, preaching, and actions to biblical principles. They must receive their spiritual understanding from the Holy Spirit, who teaches us about Christ (John 14:26). If we want to reap the fruit of faith, we must sow the seed of faith, which is the Word of God.

When we proclaim His truths, we open the way for the miraculous. The sick are healed (Psalm 107:19–20). Unbelievers turn to Christ and find eternal life (Proverbs 4:20–22). People are set free (Luke 4:17–19, John 8:31–32).

God’s Word is His voice speaking to you individually. Read His promises in the Bible. Accept and embrace them personally—as though the Lord were having a private conversation with you. Do whatever He tells you to do; expect Him to do what He says He will do. That is the meaning of real, living faith.

Believe His promises. Think about them. Ponder them in your mind. Speak them with your lips. Allow the Holy Spirit to brand these truths into your spirit until they produce in you indomitable hope, unwavering faith, and enduring love. Act upon God’s promises with simple, childlike faith, and God will fulfill them in your life. You can experience His miracles and love right now.

God, please show me how I have become blind and deaf by following human traditions rather than trusting You and Your Word. Open my eyes, my ears, my heart, and my mind to Your presence.
