The Return of Israel

DAY 6 OF 6

Day 6 – Destroyed Cities Are Being Rebuilt

The Bible speaks not only of return but also of restoration. Cities will be rebuilt. Someone has calculated that the ‘Roman exile’ (which began after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.) has lasted 47 generations. In that time many cities from Biblical times have been reduced to rubble. Nothing was left of them but ruins.

The Jews who have returned to Israel have rebuilt many “ancient ruins’’ and “places long devastated." All over Israel you can see the fulfillment of this prophesy: Be’er Sheva (Beersheba), Tiberias, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Gath, Rehovot, Shiloh, Tekoah and many others. All of these places have been rebuilt on the ruins of the earlier cities, or directly beside them.

Here, too, we see the fulfillment of God’s promises! He is the Lord, the only true God. He is the God of Israel, who is faithful to every promise in His Word.

Thank God for His faithfulness and that we can see today the proof that He keeps His promises. Thank Him that the Jewish people can live in Israel and restore the land.

Day 5

About this Plan

The Return of Israel

God led the people of Israel to the promised land through Moses. Later, the Jews became scattered all over the world. Yet there is hope! The Bible is full of prophecies about the return of God's people to the land. In this reading plan, we look at those prophecies, the hope they offer, and we focus on their fulfilment, witnessing the return of the Jews to the promised land.
