In His Presence

DAY 1 OF 4

The power of His Presence

As Christians, being in the presence of God is part of our calling; we were created to be the ones who reflect our Creator, the ones who tell those around us about the One who lives in us. We give to others from the fruit we carry, as it says in John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.”

My husband and I come from different countries and backgrounds, which led to some initial confusion when we were newly married. Even words that seemed similar had completely different meanings for each of us. Over the years, however, something remarkable happened. People began to assume I was from his country and vice versa. Without even realizing it, many of my expressions became natural to him, and many of his words became part of my vocabulary. The more time we spent together, the more our ways of speaking and thinking blended, making each of us a part of the other.

I like how, on many occasions, the Bible mentions a parallel of our relationship with Christ, as the church being the bride and Christ being the husband. This imagery beautifully reflects the constant communion and unity in our relationship with Him. Our bond with Christ empowers us to testify to others and enables us to love, forgive, believe, and walk in faith. Mere knowledge about Christ doesn’t transform us; it is the power of His presence that genuinely reshapes our lives, allowing others to see Jesus in us.

In the New Testament, there’s a passage where Peter denies Jesus three times. What stood out to me is that people recognized Peter as one of Jesus’ followers, not because they saw them together, but because of the way Peter behaved. Even while trying to deny knowing Jesus, Peter’s transformation was so profound that he couldn’t hide the fact that Jesus was a part of him.

Today, I want to invite you to connect with God in a deeper relationship with Him intentionally, let His presence guide you, transform you, and show you the way He wants you to take. The more time you spend in God’s presence, the more His light will shine through you and be evident to those around you. The light of Jesus can genuinely impact your family, workplace, school, and every room you enter. Let Him be the One who shines through you.
