Abiding

DAY 2 OF 3

Today, we will engage in the Scriptures to continue the abided life!

Let's use the SOAPS method to engage this scripture.

S – SCRIPTURE
Write out the Bible verse
You’ll be surprised at what God can and will reveal to you when you write or meditate on what scripture you are reading!

O – OBSERVATION
What do you see in the verses you’re reading?
Who is the audience? Is there a repeated theme? What phrases or words stand out to you? What is the main point or takeaway?

A – APPLICATION
When God’s Word becomes personal
What is God saying to me today? How can I take this scripture and apply it to my life? For instance, if the scripture talks about forgiveness, how can I forgive those who have wronged me? What are the specific changes I need to make from this passage?

P – PRAYER/Promise to Embrace
Pray God’s Word back to Him and embrace any promises revealed
If the Holy Spirit has revealed anything to you during this time in God's Word, pray about it. Thank God and recognize if there are any promises to embrace. Confess if He has revealed any sin in your life. Take time to thank Him for His goodness in your life.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit in John 14:

15 “If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. 18 No, I will not abandon you as orphans — I will come to you. 19 Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live. 20 When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”

If you ever feel stuck on a passage or need help knowing what you are reading, this method can help!

Prayer: Father, thank you for promising the helper, the Holy Spirit, to those who love you. Holy Spirit, help me love God and others and live an abided life. I pray you would keep me all the days of my life and reveal Yourself and Your Son to me by the Holy Spirit. Lead me into truth, light, and love in Jesus' name!
