Knock Yourself Out

DAY 2 OF 3

Day 2: When We’ve Gone Too Far

God is a patient God. As a matter of fact He is the most patient there is. The Bible says He is long-suffering. He is always helping us in every way possible for us to get it right and submit to Him.

So when His judgment does come it is fully justified and final. At that point we’ve exhausted all of our opportunities. People who continuously reject God will eventually reject Him for the last time.

We can learn this from looking at the history of the nation of Israel. In the book of Jeremiah, we read about God’s message to the people of Judah. He told them of the impending judgement they were going to face due to their disobedience. He even gives them the best path to follow to survive the judgement and they still wouldn’t listen. The people were so stubborn, that on three occasions God tells Jeremiah not to pray for the people because He won’t listen.

Things had gotten so bad God didn’t want Jeremiah to intercede. That same thing can happen today when people harden their hearts against the Lord. Can you imagine being so hard headed that God tells someone not to pray for you? That’s an absolutely dreadful place to be.

How do you come back to God if you don’t want to, and nobody is praying for you? I don’t know how you come back from that.

About this Plan

Knock Yourself Out

Is there a time when God stops pursuing us? The scary answer is yes. God is merciful and He gives us chance after chance. But our chances are not infinite. Eventually time runs out. This devotional will explore what it looks like when a hardened heart refuses God’s welcome so many times that He stops asking.
