DAY 7 OF 7

The Glory

Philippians 4:20 " Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen."

Whether we are a high-level athlete or just an ordinary citizen of the world, there comes a time when we all tend to take the glory that is due to God. The athlete on the podium or the employee praised for their presentation both have a tendency to accept congratulations... and bask in them.

Let us not be mistaken, it is good to savor our victories, to celebrate our efforts, and to acknowledge our discipline. What is not good is to fail to recognize that God is the origin of all things and that our victory would have been impossible without Him. God has shaped who we are in every detail. Are we able to recognize that our ability to run or to give a good presentation inevitably comes from Him?

If we acknowledge this, let us fight against thoughts that inflate pride and give God the glory He deserves. Let us not feed on congratulations but rather accept them as part of a grace that has been granted to us. Let us guard against the fruits of pride that lead straight to destruction by not stealing God's praise.

My brothers and sisters, each and every one of us is a chosen athlete of God, running towards eternal life. The entirety of this devotional charts the winding path of a child of God leading to the Glory of the Father.

In this regard, I pray that we are always ready for His call, to train relentlessly with His Word, to stand firm in times of pain, to expose the tactics of evil, to remain united in the body of Christ, to develop the mindset of the winner, and to give all the glory to God.

Fraternally yours.

Day 6

About this Plan

In Victory!

Athletes take diligent steps to ensure they are trained and prepared for competition. As Christians, we should do the same. This devotional shares some strategies on how to do that, and gives some practical advice.
