What to Pray for Your Children

DAY 8 OF 16

What to pray for your children

Practical guidelines (5)

Pray that they will fearlessly take a stand against peer pressure. Pray that they will hate sin and resist temptation. “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Pray for the working of the Sevenfold Spirit of God in their lives. “The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him – the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord” (Isaiah 1 1:2).

Pray that they will understand God’s plan for their lives and that they will trust Him with their lives and future. “Look here, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.’ How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog – it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, ‘If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.’ Otherwise you are boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil. Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it” (James 4:13-17).
