Selecting the Right Leaders

DAY 1 OF 4

Selecting the Right Leaders: Part I

Many companies may be looking for new talent. Rather than squander this opportunity, it is a great time to develop some guidelines for selecting talented leaders for your company’s future.

Now’s an opportune time to turn to the directions God gave Moses when he was overwhelmed and needed help. Moses was leading hundreds of thousands of people in the wilderness. People who had come from homes and organized, if enslaved, lives. Now they were left disorganized and afraid with only Moses to direct them.

A stronger leadership system was needed. So, in Deuteronomy 1:13, God commanded Moses to, “Choose wise and discerning and experienced men from your tribes, and I will appoint them as your heads.”

The Lord listed three qualifications for leadership. Sound leadership requires more than skill in one area, the individual has to have a set of developed abilities in order to be effective.

It’s important that we take the time to select talented leaders, rather than rashly hiring out of convenience. God’s strategy for selecting leaders can help you today. Join me in this series as I unpack each of the three attributes God gave Moses.

Questions For Reflection

  • What are the leadership deficits in your company? Is there a need for a brand-new position? Has someone in your company already been stepping up? Would a promotion better suit your business’s needs?
  • Do you feel disorganized or anxious about your company? What precisely is making you uneasy? What about your employees? How are they? Consider Psalm 23 for reassurance today.
