Faith, Part 3 of 3Sample
Faith gives joy
“Though you have not seen Him [=Jesus], you love Him. Though you do not now see Him, you believe in Him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”(1 Peter 1:8-9)
Peter and John had known the Lord Jesus personally. They had spent years with Him and had heard His teaching with their own ears. Then, when Jesus went to heaven, Peter, John and the other disciples were given the task of spreading the good news about Him throughout the world. John puts it this way, “that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.” (1 John 1:3-4) Peter did the same thing. He too preached a lot and wrote some letters, which are now included in the Bible. He saw how people who had not known Jesus personally were nevertheless able through faith to share in the same “inexpressible joy” that he himself experienced through his relationship with the Lord Jesus. What a miracle!
By faith we can already experience joy now, and at Jesus' return that joy will be complete.
Do you experience joy through your faith? How does Jesus make your life more joyful?
