Overcoming the Father Wound: The Path to Victory

DAY 9 OF 9

Day 9: The Year of God’s Favor: Redemption Awaits!

Scripture – Isaiah 61:1 – 3a

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor…to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. (See also Luke 4:17-18).

If you have suffered from any of the traumas that we have examined so far, take heart – there is abundant hope for you! As you meditate on the above verses, it should become very clear that no matter what you have gone through, whatever the enemy has stolen or sabotaged can be redeemed, reclaimed, and restored!

You are NOT a “second-class citizen” in God’s Kingdom – you are NOT a reject – NOT inferior - NOT worthless, and so on…the list of the enemies lies is endless – but you can overcome every one, as you counter them with the truth about who you are in Christ (your new identity, if you have surrendered your life to him). You have something the devil wants but can never have – you have been ”fearfully and wonderfully made” in God’s very OWN image and likeness (Psalm 139:14, Genesis 1:26-27).

Let’s look once again at our opening verses to unpack the abundant healing and hope that God has for us -

·Brokenhearted due to abuse, abandonment, and more? The Messiah has come to heal you!

·Have you been a captive, imprisoned by lies and self-defeating behaviors? God has TOTAL FREEDOM for you!

·Do you mourn the loss of a carefree childhood? Do you grieve over your past? Take heart – God has superabundant comfort for you (the Holy Spirit is called “The Comforter” for good reason – John 14:16 KJV).

But there’s more! Look at verse 4 -

4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.

Talk about Legacy! But God still isn’t done yet - He also has an amazing recompense for all that you have suffered -

7 Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.

Prayer:

“Father, I receive my New Identity in you today, and I thank you for the healing, joy, new vision and abundant life you have for me. Amen.”
