Praying Over Your Children and Stepchildren

DAY 7 OF 7

Influence

The Bible records many stories of children who made a difference despite their age. Miriam enabled baby Moses to be nursed by her mother and David was a shepherd boy when God called him to be the next king of Israel. Esther was likely a teenager when she helped deliver an entire race from genocide. A little girl told Naaman, a warrior with leprosy, how to be healed by God. In the New Testament, a boy offered his few fish and loaves to Jesus.

Our children and bonus children are capable of more than we often think they can offer. We see all the ways they need to grow—physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually—so we forget that God often uses ordinary and overlooked people to accomplish remarkable things for Him. We may not see how God uses our kids and bonus kids when they are at school, at practice, playing with their friends, or on the field. But given God’s record, we can be sure that He will use them if they are willing. And we can pray for them that they will set an example in their speech, behavior, faith, purity, and love.

Prayer

God of all things big and small, I thank You for not disqualifying us based on our wealth, ability, power, size, age, or popularity. You often use the weak instead of the strong and use the obscure instead of the famous. I pray that you will open doors of opportunity for my children and bonus children will live as examples of faith, love, and kindness. Empower them and use them to impact the world for Your glory.
