Rootedნიმუში

Daily, where do you find yourself putting your focus? If you’re like most human beings, your answer is probably, “Everywhere!” From responsibilities at work, to taking care of your family, to spending time with friends, to pouring into your significant other, to staying up to date on social media, to chores at home, it all adds up to a lot at the end of the day. You’re pulled in so many different directions that it can be hard to reset and refocus. So many other things are asking for or requiring your attention that it can be easy to forget about yourself—the care you need, the attention you need, the truth you need.
Paul’s call here has always been important, but it’s especially so in this day and age. It’s a reminder to take time and shift our focus. To turn our eyes away from the things of this world that bring stress, frustration, and doubt. To focus instead on the things of Heaven—the truth God has given us to help us see ourselves as who we are.
To help you focus your attention on the things of Heaven, work on memorizing this verse this week. When you feel your focus shifting toward the things of this world too often, repeat this truth to yourself to help you root your eyes, your value, and your identity back in truth.

About this Plan

Like a plant, our root system—our identity—is vitally important to our health. It’s how you see yourself in light of God, others, and the world. It’s what holds you when life changes, threatens, or causes you to question what’s true about you! We’ll look at how a healthy identity rooted in who God is will keep us strong, vibrant, and grounded no matter what comes our way.
