DAY 3 OF 5

What Is The Bible?

Perhaps the most popular, controversial and misunderstood piece of literature in history, the Bible is a book unlike any other that has helped shape the lives of billions over thousands of years. To understand the Bible can be a lifelong venture, however there are two categories of understanding that can help illuminate this ancient text: The physical coming together of the Bible and then its Spiritual importance.

In the most basic definition, The Bible is a collection of 66 books written over the course of around 1,500 years. These books are split into two main sections: Old Testament which was written before Jesus was on the Earth, then the New Testament which tells of while and after Jesus was on the Earth.

These books vary in genre, literary styles and original languages. However they all tell the story of God, humanity and ultimately The Gospel.

Though these books were crafted by human hands, and from a technical standpoint leave scholars amazed, the most important belief is that these books are divinely inspired by God. This is ultimately what makes The Bible unlike any other book. By reading The Bible, you’re reading God’s Word.

The practical effect of this is truly life changing. By reading The Bible, you’re able to learn about who God is, hear from God and allow Him to impact your life. As you make a habit of reading, you may feel a peace or assurance within yourself, even if you don’t fully understand what you’re reading, because of the power of God’s word.
