True Prosperity When You're Suffering

DAY 4 OF 9

Jeremiah: Hope in Suffering

Listen to our friend Johnny tell Jeremiah’s story of suffering.

God set Jeremiah apart for the task of taking his message to the nations (Jer 1:5). This task, though, was not one where Jeremiah, the prophet, was honored or financially rewarded. In fact, his life of faithfulness was a series of hardships and suffering. The people he tried to warn, ridiculed him. In their frustration, the leaders tortured Jeremiah and isolated him to silence the prophet and his word from God. God never said he would take Jeremiah out of the difficulty, but God promised he would be with Jeremiah.

Jeremiah did not experience material prosperity. He was content to look forward to a better prosperity, the time when his people would return to Jerusalem and to the coming Savior whom God promised.

About this Plan

True Prosperity When You're Suffering

Can we prosper even as we suffer? The Bible shows us that Joseph, Jeremiah, Paul, and Jesus suffered with purpose—so that lives would be saved. In their suffering, they modeled for us a true prosperity that exceeds what this world promises. True prosperity in suffering reveals God’s presence and faithfulness, our perseverance, our ransom, our forgiveness, and our hope.
