In the Shadows

DAY 15 OF 28

Want an easy-to-remember way to read and study the Bible? No matter which passage of Scripture you're reading, ask yourself these three questions: "What?" "So What?" "Now What?" We'll show you how!

WHAT? What is this passage about?

What reasons did Abraham and Sarah have for doubting if the messenger's words were true?

SO WHAT? Why does it matter?

  • What does Abraham's eagerness to welcome the strangers tell us about our posture as we look for God's promises?
  • In the passage, Sarah lost hope because of infertility. What kind of things do you see people lose hope because of today?

NOW WHAT? What should I do about it?

  • Have you ever been surprised by God in a way that left you speechless or excited? What happened?
  • What would it look like to shift your expectations of God from impossible to possible?
  • What's something in your life you need that kind of hope for right now?
  • What's something you've given up on or lost hope about? What would a surprise outcome be for that situation?
  • Do you think it's possible to strengthen your faith even when God doesn't respond in the way you hope for or expect? Why or why not?

About this Plan

In the Shadows

As we grow and experience more life, we might find the shadows of doubt or questions creeping towards us. Rather than running from the shadows, we can look to God to cast some light on the situation. In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll take a look at stories that draw us closer to God's light whenever we feel lost in the shadows.
