Becoming an Overcomer

DAY 1 OF 5

Day 1 - More than Conquerors

Romans 8:37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NASB)

The Greek word for “overwhelmingly conquer” is, hupernikaó- exceedingly conquer, being "more than a conqueror," i.e. "super-conqueror" who is "completely and overwhelmingly victorious."

We cannot be "more than conquerors" if there isn’t anything that needs conquering. When we gave our lives to Jesus we said yes to serving Him and fighting for Him for the remainder of our days on earth. We are co-laborers (1 Cor. 3:9) in God's Kingdom, assigned to establish His Kingdom "on earth as it is in heaven."

We are here to pierce the darkness with His glorious light (John 1:5), and that will produce some conflict. We are here to establish His light peace, lead people to Him, and establish His reality here on earth. We are here to make His name and presence known.

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. (NKJV)

The Bible tells us that we are blessed when we make peace, not keep the peace. This world doesn't have His peace. John 14:27 “I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous!” (TPT)

Peacemakers don’t shy away from chaotic situations, because they know that it’s their job to conquer the chaos with His peace. Peacemakers don’t avoid the darkness, because they know they’ve been called to arise and shine and conquer darkness with the Light of Christ.

God loves us, and it’s important to remember that chaos coming against us doesn’t change that. It reiterates it, it shows that the darkness doesn’t like us. And nothing that comes against us as we work to establish His Kingdom, peace, and presence on this earth can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

Prayer: God, use my life to conquer evil and establish Your truth and Kingdom here on earth.
