Deliverance From Evil

DAY 8 OF 10

Overcoming Temptation

One of Jesus’ most intimate moments with His Father and the Holy Spirit was followed by a time of testing in the desert. And the God we serve, who never changes, still operates the same way today.

So often in the deliverance process, we learn to put our faith in God, who showers us with love, compassion, and mercy when we first cry out to Him. Nonetheless, as we continue to mature in our spiritual walk with Him, His Spirit will lead us into the wilderness, where the devil will test us.

But remember, God has already given us the power to resist and overcome all temptation. This means that our wilderness seasons are designed to build our faith and character as we continue to trust in the Lord.

It was no coincidence that Satan showed up when Jesus was physically at his weakest. Christ had fasted to the point of starvation and severe dehydration, so what did the devil do? He offered him a basic necessity that Jesus' natural body undoubtedly craved.

Still, instead of caving into His fleshly needs, Christ harnessed strength from the Holy Spirit and refuted Satan's temptation with the Word of God. And throughout the entire account, he employed this same strategy to refute Satan when he tried to tempt him. And guess what? The devil was eventually forced to flee.
