What to Say When You Don't Know What to Say: Truth From God's Word for Any Situation

DAY 3 OF 7

Life-Giving Words for the Anxious

She couldn't put her finger on the source, really. She just started to notice it creeping into every crevice of her life: at work, when she knew the meeting was coming up; on the drive home, with all the crazy drivers; with the way she felt when she opened the mailbox and saw another bill. At every turn, the anxiety meter just kept creeping higher and higher. She could feel it in her stomach, her thoughts, her soul…

What should she do? What should any of us do? Anxiety in a myriad of forms seems to plague our nation like never before. Despite the huge uptick in antianxiety medicine prescriptions, we still find ourselves frenzied and fretting about so many things. Yet Jesus says to us, “Fear not!” But how? We lament in response. Can’t He see how huge our problems are?

Jesus’ Words aren’t empty like ours. His Command comes with Supernatural Power and the Promise of Lasting Peace. The key? Remembering His Presence! The God who controls the storm stands with us, ready to steady our hearts in the middle of our panic moments. What a breath of fresh air we can bring to those around us when we help them remember our Sovereign Savior, who soothes the storm with “Peace, be still.”

May the LORD make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; may the LORD look with favor on you and give you peace. NUMBERS 6:25–26

May God’s Face and Favor shine over every part of your life today.

I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, LORD, make me live in safety. PSALM 4:8

Better than any armed soldier, God stays at attention, guarding us in all our ways. Because He is our Shield and Defender, we can rest easy—He has us covered!

Abundant peace belongs to those who love Your instruction; nothing makes them stumble. PSALM 119:165

I love how you’re holding on to God’s Promises during this difficult time. You are an inspiration and a reminder to me of just how trustworthy God’s Word is.

LORD, You will establish peace for us, for You have also done all our work for us. ISAIAH 26:12

Our burden is light, and we have peace because Jesus has already done all the heavy lifting.

He said, “Don’t be afraid, you who are treasured by God. Peace to you; be very strong!” As he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.” DANIEL 10:19

God thinks you’re awesome, and He is on your side! He’ll give you the strength you need to follow Him and make your way a success.

“Daughter,” He said to her, “your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be healed from your affliction.” MARK 5:34

I’m believing God with you that He will bring healing and wholeness to your body and soul. He cares for you!
