Stewarding the Gift of Prophecy

DAY 1 OF 7

Day 1 - “You all can prophesy”

1 Corinthians 14:31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. (NKJV)

The Bible tells us that we can all prophesy, and should be learning about this gift and pursuing it earnestly as a lifestyle. (1 Cor. 14:1)

One of the most important aspects of pursuing and stewarding the Gift of Prophecy is knowing our identity in Christ and having a solid biblical foundation surrounding how we approach, grow in, and steward this gift. When we don’t know who we are or what God says about this gift in His written Word, a continual pursuit will be very challenging.

If we look into the Greek transcripts for 1 Cor. 14:31, we see that it provides even more insight into this truth. The Greek word for “you can all” in this verse gives us a powerful understanding of operating in this amazing gift.

The Greek word for the words, “you can all,” is dunamai or dýnamis. It can also be translated as, “You are able.”

And the Greek word for “You are able” is dýnamai - to show ability (power); able (enabled by God), empowered - Dýnamis - ability/power.

God is telling us that His grace and presence within us empower us to release His words on earth to put His plans in motion. This word dunamis is where we get our English word for dynamite. It is the same word used in Acts 1:8 when Jesus prophesies about believers receiving power (Dýnamai, or Dýnamis, or Dunamis) when the Holy Spirit would be poured out in Acts chapter 2.

Acts 1:8 “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth.” (NASB) This prophecy was fulfilled in Acts 2, at Pentecost.

Jesus paid the highest price on the cross to wash us clean, forgive our sins, make us brand new, put His Spirit in us, and enable us to operate in His dunamis power so we can speak His plans and purposes “on earth as it is in heaven.”

Prayer: Father, I ask for Your power to flow through me so I can be used by You to extend Your Kingdom here on earth.
