The Waiting Room: A Place of Purpose

DAY 2 OF 4

Pray With A Heart of Expectancy

During our time in God's waiting room, we have to utilize the power of prayer. Praying in God's waiting room is essential because it keeps us connected to God and helps us align our hearts with His will. Think about a doctor's waiting room; individuals find themselves in a space between the current problem and the awaited solution. Similarly, God's waiting room can be seen as the space between our prayers and the fulfillment of God's promises or the resolution of our situations. Just as in a doctor's waiting room where individuals present their symptoms or concerns, in God's waiting room, we bring our needs, desires, and petitions before Him through prayer.

I love this verse in Mark 11:24 that says whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you. Adding a heart of expectancy to your prayers goes a long way. It shows a deep faith and trust in God's ability to answer prayers according to His will and timing. When we pray with expectancy, we approach God with confidence, believing that He hears our prayers and is actively at work in our lives.

As we wait on God in His waiting room, we should pray with a heart of expectancy that He will grant us:

1. Guidance and Direction: We need guidance from God to know which step to take in our journey of life. James 1:5 says, If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.

2. Renewed Faith and Strength: As we meditate on Scripture, God speaks to us, reminding us of His promises, His faithfulness, and His love for us. The truths found in the Bible renew our faith and give us the strength to press on. You will come out of the waiting room renewed, rebuilt, repaired, and firm.

3. Peace and Comfort: God invites us to lay out our anxieties upon Him through prayer. As we open our hearts to Him, He pours peace onto us that surpasses understanding, guarding our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. In the waiting room, God comforts us with His presence showing us that His word is true in Hebrews 13:5, "I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

4. Testimony: As we pray and wait upon God, He will answer our prayers in ways that exceed our expectations or come at just the right moment. These answers to prayer become testimonies of God's faithfulness and power,. Because of the miraculous provision, divine intervention, and fulfillment of promises by the hand of God, we will have the opportunity to share our testimonies with others, encouraging them in their own journeys of faith and pointing them to the hope we have in Christ Jesus.

As you spend time in the waiting room praying, what are you expecting from God?

About this Plan

The Waiting Room: A Place of Purpose

In this Bible plan, we delve into the concept of waiting as a significant aspect of the Christian journey. Often, waiting is seen as a passive period, a time of uncertainty and frustration. However, through the lens of Scripture, we discover that waiting is not merely a gap between events, but a purposeful and transformative season in our lives.
