Isolation

DAY 4 OF 4

On the final day today, we are going to look at one of the most powerful stories in the Bible. This is the story of the woman who was caught in adultery, and they bring her to Jesus to test him.

There is this iconic picture from the movie The Passion of Christ and my favorite scene is when in the frame you see the hem of Jesus’s garment, his sandals, and his feet and a woman reaching through the dust trying to touch his feet. What a moment. What a powerful picture. Isn’t that picture that most of us can identify with?

The story is that the woman was caught in adultery, and these self-righteous, stone-clenching men had surrounded her with accusations and allegations (opposite of isolation). They wanted to stone her, and they brought her to Jesus to test him. We see Jesus writes on the ground with his finger and replies to them he who is without sin to throw the first stone and again he bent down and wrote on the ground. Slowly, one by one they drop their stones and walk away. Jesus is left alone with the woman there.

Sometimes God will isolate you to show you he’s all you got and all you need. He’s your best and greatest backup. There might be times when God puts you in situations where you just need to reach out and cling to him because He’s all you need.

God isolated Jonah and won him back

God isolated Moses and showed his back

God isolated David and watched his back

God isolated Joseph and honored him back

God isolated Job and gave him back

God isolated Daniel who never bowed his back or looked back

God isolated Jesus and adopted us back.

As we come to the end of this devotional, let’s make sure that when we are in times of Isolation we make it the most blessed times with God. To do that we need to ensure two things:

1. Peace with God

a.Firstly, we need to ensure we are at peace with God. We need to make sure He is the number one priority in our lives.

b.Sometimes God might need to get our attention, he might need to remove certain people or things, idols distractions, etc…

2. Peace with yourself.

a.In times of Isolation, you are all by yourself. If we don’t have peace with ourselves, if we are struggling with self-doubt, regret, and bitterness, these times might be difficult.

Ponder on the verses in Psalms and Isaiah.

Day 3

About this Plan

Isolation

What goes through your mind when you think about being left alone? Is it a good feeling? Is it a bad feeling? Does it bring up negative emotions? Or do you like being alone? What do we do with isolation. Over the next couple of days, we are going to look at what God does through isolation.
