The Footwashing Series: Easter Week

DAY 2 OF 5

Day 2: Jesus washes the feet of Judas

Jesus knew Judas had already betrayed Him, and He still washed his feet.

When it came to the last night of His life, Jesus unwaveringly still offered Judas a place at the table of the Last Supper, and in washing their feet, He didn't hesitate in offering the same invitation for forgiveness, love and relationship to Judas as He did to the other disciples. Judas didn't betray Jesusafterthat. Judas hadalreadysold Jesus.

Jesus knew, and He still washed.

Not a single one of the disciples suspected that Judas was the betrayer amongst them; that's how Jesus treated His enemy amongst friends, both on the mission field and in private.

How do we treat our enemies? Is there anyone who we see as undeserving to sit on the seat and have their feet washed by Jesus?

Jesus, heal our hearts so that we want to see every person You made sit on the seat and have their feet washed by You.

Reflection Questions

  1. Jesus knew that Judas had already betrayed him and still gave Judas every opportunity to turn away from sin and come back into right relationship with Him. Is anything weighing on your heart that you want to give to Jesus this Easter?
  2. Jesus treated his enemy so well in public and in private that not even the closest friends suspected Judas was the one who would betray Him. How do you treat people in public and in private? Do you treat and speak about everyone with honour, whether they're your 'friend' or 'enemy'?
  3. What are your 'thirty pieces of silver'?
