Altars: An Invitation to Meet With God

DAY 5 OF 10

Lay the Foundation

Read the Scripture passage slowly and reverently. Listen for the word or phrase the Holy Spirit highlights for you.

  • "17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."

Sit quietly with the Lord, allowing His truth and His presence to minister to you.

Listen to the song and consider how it carries the message of 2 Corinthians 5:17-5:21

Invitation to Worship

Read the lyrics, slowly and with intention. Ask the Holy Spirit to highlight a word or phrase for your consideration.

Altar Moment

Ask the Holy Spirit to highlight one or two of the following Invitations for your focus.

Using the lyrics as inspiration, tell God what’s on your mind.

Listen to the song and sing along, offering your simple, authentic worship to God.

Invitations from God:

  • Surrender your life as an offering to God - Romans 12:1-2, Matthew 16:24
  • Place your confidence in Jesus - Matthew 28:20b, Psalm 121:1-2
  • Claim your role as a messenger of beauty, joy, peace and praise - Isaiah 61:1 & 3a, Luke 6:45
  • Renew faith in Jesus - Romans 8:28
  • Declare hope in Jesus - 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
  • Praise Jesus - 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, Isaiah 61:7
  • Express gratitude to Jesus • Embrace joy - 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Respond to God’s invitation to stretch and grow in faith by asking Him for His help.

Knowing God is with you, listen to the song and worship, once more.

Day 4Day 6

About this Plan

Altars: An Invitation to Meet With God

An altar moment is a holy encounter. It occurs when we set our heart’s intention on meeting with God and He meets with us. It is an opportunity to acknowledge our need for God, to worship Him, and to call on Him in honesty and vulnerability. It is a place of relationship, surrender, sacrifice, remembrance, communion, joy, asking, being seen, grieving, waiting, and more.
