5 Days Engaging the Power of Hope

DAY 3 OF 5

Comfort for Anxiety

Our psychological well-being is as important as our physical health. Our quality of life is intricately interwoven with our outlook on everything. Even during times of physical stress, we can learn to cope and heal by strengthening our hope and optimism. This isn’t the same as positive thinking. Hope is linked to real possibilities. We can accept that we are suffering while also being hopeful for the future.

Anxiety can be debilitating. It creates persistent and intense worry and fear about everyday situations. Though anxiety can be normal in stressful situations, it is an entirely different matter when it overtakes one’s everyday life. When we trust God to take care of us, and we realize that no challenge is too big that can’t be overcome with His help, we experience the life-giving hope which His comfort brings. The delight and relief are sweet. God’s presence brings comfort to all who look to Him for help.

Be intentional about your mental well-being today. If you are overwhelmed, take care. Spend time with the Lord. Take a walk in nature, have a shower, or give someone a hug. These small, comforting acts can do wonders for your outlook!
