Walking in Wisdom Pt. 1

DAY 4 OF 5

Make the Most of Every Opportunity

As Paul teaches, wisdom is characterized by a cautious life that is attentive and mindful. It’s not led by fleeting feelings, desires, or unbridled zeal, but rather governed by an understanding of God’s will and His truth.

Why are believers called to walk as wise? Paul’s call is an aspiration and a reflection of our new identity in Christ. As children of light, transformed by God’s grace, we are exhorted to live out this wisdom we’ve received. This notion extends beyond mere ethical living; it embodies the wisdom imparted to us through our relationship with Jesus Christ.

In 1 Corinthians 1:30, Paul affirms that Jesus Christ is our wisdom from God. This profound truth implies that all we need for a godly life – for our marriages, parenting, work, friendships, successes, failures, and every life circumstance – is already ours in Christ. It’s a remarkable assertion that our walk of wisdom is empowered and equipped by our union with Him.

Further, 2 Peter 1:3 reinforces this idea, stating that God’s divine power has granted us everything we need pertaining to life and godliness. This is divine provision. This spiritual wealth equips us with a comprehensive philosophy – or theology – that addresses every aspect of human existence and need.

Christian growth is a process of discovering, learning, and applying what is already ours in Christ. It’s about harnessing the vast resources of knowledge available to us in Jesus and His Word. As we immerse ourselves in Scripture, guided by the Holy Spirit, we learn to apply these truths to the complexities of life.

This journey of wisdom also unfolds through our experiences. Many Christians can attest to facing situations they never imagined they could endure, only to be sustained by God’s joy, strength, and peace. This resilience and fortitude are the manifestation of the wisdom and truths acquired from the moment we embraced Christ.

Our wise walk, therefore, is a continual process of living out the truths we received at salvation and deepened through our ongoing engagement with God’s Word. It’s about living with the assurance that we are equipped to handle myriad challenges with godly wisdom, in both principle and practical experience.

As we ponder this, let us embrace the wisdom that is ours in Christ, allowing it to shape our choices, actions, and attitudes in every sphere of life. May this understanding inspire us to walk wisely, rooted in the profound truths of Scripture and the transformative power of our relationship with Jesus.
