Handling Media Influences

DAY 10 OF 21

This week's key thought is, "ON is not the only choice we've got. Choose OFF!" Keep this point in mind as you read this week's verses, go through the discussion, watch the video, and as you reflect on your interaction with media this week. Talk through these key points throughout the week:

• Video games ask us, “Are you sure you want to quit?” YES! Media is designed to keep you engaged. It can even feel like being under a spell or being enchanted. You may have to fight hard to stick to God’s best for you.
• We shouldn’t make choices based on what everyone else does. The world’s standards are not God’s standards.
• God’s standards are not a new set of rules you learn at church, they are the way God shows you through His Word.
• We must seek God for His standards for our life. He may not give every kid in every family the same blueprints, plans, boundaries for media. Follow God’s lead and follow your parents’ rules.

About this Plan

Handling Media Influences

What we see and hear affects our hearts and minds, and shapes our attitudes and actions. Does the Bible really have something to say about media that wasn't even invented in Bible times? Yes! This reading plan challenges us to make the most of technology and media while guarding ourselves from its potential negative influence. It includes devotional content, Bible passages, discussion questions, and kid-friendly videos.
