DAY 3 OF 4

Give Thanks for Authority Regained

The Bible tells us that in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. He filled the earth with life, and He gave humans the responsibility and the authority to be custodians over all His creation. Sadly, Satan, the deceiver, tempted the first humans to rebel against God. They became slaves of sin and death, and Satan became their ruler. This was not God’s design for His beloved human creation. Each person born into the world—from that time until now—is born into the consequences of Adam and Eve’s transgression. Thus, all people living who have not been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ are in bondage to Satan.

When God came to earth in the flesh of Jesus Christ, to be the redeeming Sacrifice for humankind, He paid the full penalty for our sin. He defeated the enemy who had seized the power over us. He destroyed the works of death that had infected the human family. Through Jesus, God returned, to those who believe in Him, the authority that people had in the beginning. This is an amazing truth.

It is essential for us to realize that, through Christ, we have power over our adversary! In considering what it means to have a heart of thankfulness, remember that Christ regained your authority for you. Now, you are more than a conqueror in Him, if you chose to believe His Word and begin exercising that power.

Thought of the Day: As a Christian, I have been given the power to walk in authority over sin. I am no longer bound by the lies of the enemy. I am free!
