Healing: The False Truths Blocking Divine HealingSample
My Healing Comes Through Sanctification
Let's explore another misconception that hinders the Holy Spirit's intervention in divine healing. We might not think we're healed by our own strength, yet we often believe that God will answer our prayers for healing if we fast and pray more... It's subtle, but essentially, we're thinking that we must perform acts to be healed. This leads us back to relying on our efforts for God's intervention. Apostle Paul states in Romans 11:6 that if it is by grace, then it is no longer by works; otherwise, grace is no longer grace. And if it is by works, it is no longer grace; otherwise, work is no longer work. The Holy Spirit releases the anointing of healing when we step away from works and understand it’s entirely by grace. We don't need to treat our bodies harshly to receive healing. Nothing needs to be added to Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Let's revisit the story of the snakes in the desert we just read. If bitten by a snake in the desert, the venom would quickly take effect and be lethal. The few seconds or minutes left to live had to be spent running as fast as possible to look at the snake placed on the pole to be healed. Through this prophetic act, God wanted His people to realize that it had nothing to do with their strength, but with His declaration: 'Anyone who is bitten and looks at the snake on the pole will live.'
Jesus used this passage to speak about His death and resurrection on the cross! He used this story so we could understand the same prophetic message: it has nothing to do with us, but everything to do with what HE did. Just as our salvation dates back 2000 years, so does our healing. Again, it has nothing to do with us, nothing to do with our sanctification, nothing to do with what we do or don’t do. It’s about what we focus on, and I invite us to look to what Jesus accomplished on the cross.
I invite you to pray with me: Jesus, thank You for what You accomplished on the cross for me. I know that by Your wounds on the cross, I am healed. It has nothing to do with me, but everything to do with You, Jesus. I stop looking at myself, my efforts, my weaknesses, my shortcomings, but look at Your work on the cross for my healing right now. I keep my eyes fixed on You. I declare healing in my body. In the name of Jesus, amen.
