Eliminating Excuses

DAY 6 OF 6

Start seeing yourself like God does

We have to see ourselves as He sees us because that will make us eliminate our excuses. I love that God often ignores our excuses because He sees in us what we don’t see. God sees our potential. He loves us and accepts us as we are, but He loves us too much to leave us that way.

Gideon was filled with fear. The Midianites were attacking day after day, stealing the harvest. The Israelites were hiding in caves. God appears to Gideon and says, “I will use you to defeat the Midianites.” Gideon questions God by making excuses of how insignificant his tribe, his family, and himself are. God ignored his excuses. He calls him a “mighty warrior” and affirms that He will be with him.

God ignores Jeremiah’s excuses, those he made when God called him and he told Him that he was too young and didn’t know how to speak. God sees his potential and tells him not to underestimate his age and that He would put the words in his mouth so that he could speak.

When Gideon was in the cave, God saw the mighty warrior in him.

When Jeremiah was full of insecurities, God saw a prophet that was going to impact a generation.

Your life is full of potential and it is necessary that you see yourself as God does to eliminate your excuses.

The prophet Samuel went to the house of Jesse to anoint the next king. David was the youngest son. Compared to his brothers, he was the least expected candidate. However, God didn’t look at appearances but looked at his heart. One after another, his seven brothers presented themselves. But God showed Samuel that David was the one.

To eliminate excuses we have to see ourselves like God sees us and not like other people see us. Stop seeing yourself as the world, your circumstances, your neighbours, friends, or family see you. Start seeing yourself as God sees you. When you start seeing yourself as God sees you, others will also begin to see you as God sees you because you will walk with a different authority and confidence, knowing that God is with you.

It is a different attitude. It is a chip change. It is a brave and bold faith. God called you. There is a Pharaoh and God is calling you to face him. There is slavery and God is calling you to set people free. There is oppression and God is calling you to make a difference. Eliminate the excuses because God wants to use you in His kingdom.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for seeking me, seeing my heart, and changing how I see myself. Help me, Father, to face the challenges before me with a brave and bold faith. I understand that I’ve been called to make a difference in this present world and to change lives through Christ. Help me to embrace that calling by eliminating all excuses. Amen.
