Nothing Is Impossible

DAY 6 OF 7

The story of David and Goliath displays the simple truth that God has already won the battle. David, a young shepherd boy up against Goliath, a nine foot Philistine giant. How could David have possibly won the fight? David’s victory did not come from the typical battle weapons, but from a sling and a stone. But you see, that his victory was not because of a sling and a stone. In fact, it didn’t matter what his physical weapon was but it was his faith in God that defeated the giant. David knew the real weapon was the Lord’s power. In Zechariah 4:6, the Lord says it’s not by might or power but by My Spirit. David says in verse 47 ‘All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.’ The world will tell you to depend upon your own strength and power, but God says that it is only through His Spirit that anything is possible. Believing that nothing is impossible with God, is believing less in our own flesh and depending more on Him. This comes with understanding that the battles, trials and challenges we encounter are not our own but the Lord’s, in which He has already won.

We always point out the physical giant that David was up against. But what we fail to recognise is the social and cultural odds against his favour. He was faced with people who doubted David and thought he was incapable because of his age (verse 33). In life, there are going to be people who will doubt what you hear from God, and water down your faith because it’s not realistic. There will be people who will lead you to believe that your God dreams are impossible. But as it says in His word, with God, nothing is impossible. You may not be battling a nine foot giant man in your life, but your Goliath could be your health condition, your financial situation or salvation for your family and friends. Or maybe you’ve let go of the God-given dreams in your life because you think it’s impossible or unrealistic. I encourage you don’t lose sight of hope, don’t let go of faith, and to believe that God has already won the battle.
