DAY 6 OF 7

It seems like our mistakes are plastered all over the internet these days. Our mistakes are on display and they have consequences, but when most people would disqualify us, God doesn’t.

Moses is an interesting man. Although he was meant to be killed as a child, he ended up being raised in Pharaoh’s house. One day he kills an Egyptian who was attacking a Hebrew. Moses’ own people see him as a murderer instead of a hero. So what does he do? He runs away to the desert to hide. But fortunately for him (and us) God wouldn’t leave him alone to be forgotten in history. God’s presence appears in a burning bush and tells Moses that he will deliver the Hebrews from Egypt. This is a tall order. I can only imagine the thoughts going through Moses’ head. He murdered an Egyptian! The Israelites won’t listen to him. So he goes for the “I am slow of speech and tongue” excuse. God won’t have any of it. Moses constantly disqualified himself. I would imagine I’d do the same thing in his shoes, but God doesn’t disqualify the ones he’s called. Moses ends up performing miracles in the name of God and delivering the Hebrews out of Egypt.

Although Moses didn’t get to see the promised land (actions have consequences), He did see wonders beyond imagination. What are you letting disqualify you? If God is for you, who can be against you? Our mistakes do have consequences just like Moses’ did, but we have also been redeemed, restored, and reborn in Christ. Pray today that the Holy Spirit would reveal to you the power of redemption and not only would you receive it, but you would extend it to those around you.
