Guided Prayers for Afternoon Walks

DAY 5 OF 5

Nature of God:

As human beings, we have a diverse set of behaviors and personalities. But did you know, God also has personality and character traits? This is called the Nature of God.

Judges 6:24 “Then Gideon built an altar there to the Lord and named it The Lord is Peace. To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.”

I love that phrase–the Lord is peace. It is revealing an attribute of the nature of God to us. God doesn't just act in a way that is peaceful. Rather, PEACE is literally a part of the fabric of His constitution. Godispeace.

I'm Benjamin Windle. Would you pray with me? Take a moment to ground yourself. Take a deep breath. Center your mind on the presence of the Holy Spirit. God is with us. God sees. God cares. God knows.

Dear God, today we step into a posture of prayer. Your nature is what I can bank on. It's better than gold. Your character and attributes are unshakable. Your peace surpasses my human understanding.

Peace is washing over my mind and emotions right now.

Stress is leaving.

Anxiety is reducing.

Your peace covers and surrounds my emotions, my brain, my nervous system, and every part of who I am.

Please import your peace into my life. I'm giving you the green light. Pour out your peace all over my life, my family, and my friends.

The storm is dying down. Waves are reducing. Wind is stilling. Jesus is here with me. Peace is my portion today.

We pray this together in Jesus' name. Amen.”

Today, I feel calmness because of the peace of God. I won't give in to fret, worry, and fear because I have confidence in who God is, and God is peace.
