Dig In

DAY 6 OF 6

It All Comes Down to This

What? Day 6? Wow! You’ve done a great job digging into learning more about what it means to follow Jesus.

Before you finish up this Bible Plan, it’s important that you learn one more thing.

It’s not just a little important—it’s the most important thing to understand about following Jesus.

Once, some people asked Jesus directly, “What’s the greatest commandment?” That’s a pretty good question, right? Do you know what the answer is?

You’ll see Jesus’ answer to that question today in your reading from the book of Matthew.

As you spend the rest of your life digging into following Jesus, you’ll find that it’s all about loving God, loving your neighbors, and loving yourself.

And what kind of love are you supposed to show? You’ll learn that when you read from 1 Corinthians today. It has the definition of the kind of love Jesus teaches about. It’s the kind of love He has for you!

As you finish up this Bible Plan, take another listen to the John 8:31-32 song. See if you notice something new about this verse that you didn’t notice when you watched this video on Day 1.

Dig into this: Love God, others, and yourself. That’s the truth that leads to freedom!

Ask yourself: Which is hardest for me: loving God, loving others, or loving myself? Why did God include all three of these as the most important things He’s asked of His followers?

Challenge yourself: Grab some paper and something to write with. When you read from 1 Corinthians 13:1-8 today, write down every word or phrase from this passage that describes love. Pick the one you think God wants you to especially dig into right now. Write it out in big letters on a fresh sheet of paper and make designs around it. Hang it somewhere you’ll see it often as a reminder that following Jesus takes daily effort, but it’s worth it! It’s making you more like Jesus every day.

Pray: God, thank You for loving me and for teaching me how to love. Help me to dig into following You every day of my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
