Obedience: An Old Word With New LifeSample
God can make MUCH out of NOTHING!
Today, I want to tell you about an episode from my life that sounds like a scene from a Hollywood movie.
At the beginning of my musical career, a very rich man heard me sing in a big church and then wanted to meet with me, the manager I had at the time, and producers. Without batting an eye, he offered to invest a million dollars(!!!) in me. One million! If I hadn't been sitting at that moment, I would have passed out!
However, I had such an uneasy gut feeling about this offer, a very bad feeling. My producer, who was completely unimpressed by this man, didn't look too happy either.
Let's take a leap into the Bible. Maybe you're not familiar with King Amaziah of Judah, but his story is in the Bible. It says of him, "He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not wholeheartedly." (2 Chronicles 25:2 NIV)
Because he didn't serve God wholeheartedly, Amaziah kept coming up with weird ideas. For example, he already had 300,000 soldiers and still wanted more, so he paid a lot of money to buy another 100,000 soldiers from Israel.
Then a prophet came to Amaziah and warned him: "But a man of God came to him and said, 'Your Majesty, these troops from Israel must not march with you, for the Lord is not with Israel—not with any of the people of Ephraim. Even if you go and fight courageously in battle, God will overthrow you before the enemy, for God has the power to help or to overthrow. 'Amaziah asked the man of God, 'But what about the hundred talents I paid for these Israelite troops?'" The man of God replied, 'The Lord can give you much more than that.'"(2 Chronicles 25:7-9 NIV)
I probably don't have to tell you that Amaziah won the victory even without the soldiers from Israel! And today, I may live my mission, even without that million dollars.
In the same way, you may trust that you do not need more than you have at the moment because it is in God's power to give the victory. Therefore, let Him alone direct your steps!
You are a miracle!
